At Trio World Academy, we believe that learning a language is an opportunity to discover new perspectives, understand different cultures and communicate meaningfully with the world around us.
Through engaging, interactive and inquiry-based learning experiences, students develop the confidence to use languages in authentic situations. Our programme encourages curiosity, intercultural understanding, creativity and respect for diverse perspectives, preparing students to become confident global citizens.
PYP – Building Curiosity and Communication
In the Primary Years Programme, students are introduced to languages through joyful, age-appropriate and interactive experiences. Learning is centred around communication, exploration and cultural discovery.
Through songs, stories, games, role play, projects and everyday classroom interactions, students develop their listening and speaking skills while becoming familiar with different cultures and ways of life.
Language learning is connected to the students’ units of inquiry, allowing them to use the language in meaningful contexts rather than simply memorising words and phrases. The focus is on developing confidence, curiosity and a positive attitude towards language learning from an early age.
Middle School – Developing Confidence and Independence
As students progress into Middle School, language learning becomes increasingly purposeful and structured. Students develop their ability to communicate in a range of familiar and real-world situations while expanding their vocabulary, grammatical knowledge and cultural understanding.
Learning experiences include conversations, collaborative tasks, presentations, creative projects, reading and listening activities, and technology-supported learning. Students are encouraged to express their ideas, ask questions and make connections between the language they are learning and the wider world.
The programme also nurtures intercultural awareness, helping students appreciate that language is closely connected to identity, culture and perspectives.
High School – Language for the Real World
In High School, students develop greater fluency, accuracy and independence in their chosen language. Our programmes prepare students to use language confidently for academic, personal and real-world purposes.
Students engage with authentic texts, media and contemporary issues while developing their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. They are encouraged to analyse different perspectives, communicate effectively and use language creatively.
