TRIO World Academy Earns Limca Book Recognition for E-Waste Drive

TRIO World Academy, in collaboration with BinBag, organised an e-waste collection and awareness drive to promote responsible disposal of electronic waste and protect the environment from harmful effects. The initiative invited citizens to contribute their unused electronic items and take part in the effort to reduce e-waste pollution. In total, around 294 kilograms of e-waste was collected. This material was later creatively transformed into tree models, props, and animal-shaped structures. The meaningful impact and unique presentation of the collected waste earned the initiative recognition in the Limca Book of Records.

Students actively participated by collecting items such as UPS units, keyboards, batteries, CDs, water purifiers, telephone handsets, modems, mobile phones, irons, electric trimmers, and more. The drive also saw strong support from parents, local residents, and members of the public, who visited the school to responsibly dispose of their electronic waste in specially placed collection bins open to everyone.

Mr. K M Naveen, Managing Director, TRIO World Academy, said, “The initiative was initiated with the purpose of creating awareness in the students and the community of the amount of e-waste our present lifestyle is creating. Through the drive we also urged them to follow simple steps to ensure that they do their part in responsible disposal of e-waste. Our students had studied thoroughly about the entire process of waste generation and disposal in the campus and learnt about the people who do it and where the culminated waste goes, before executing the drive.”

BinBag conducted sessions for students at TRIO World Academy to help them understand electronic waste management, its impact on the environment, and the importance of proper disposal. Following this, the students researched local recycling centers, observed waste management practices in Sahakarnagar, organised collection drives in nearby areas, and spread awareness about the need to gather and recycle e-waste responsibly.

The event also marked the launch of TRIO World Academy’s ongoing waste segregation and recycling initiative. Through this program, students will learn how to create useful products from recycled materials. In addition, the Academy has set up a permanent e-waste collection bin on campus, allowing members of the public to conveniently dispose of their electronic waste.
