Learning Beyond the Classroom, Shared by Our Students
At TRIO World Academy, the Secondary Global Learning Showcase (GLS) brings together students from Grades 6 to 12 to share what they have learnt across different subjects.
From science experiments and mathematical investigations to research projects, technology, languages and the arts, students present their work and explain their ideas to parents, teachers and fellow students.
The showcase gives families a closer look at what happens in our classrooms, how students apply their knowledge and how their skills develop as they move through the school.
One of the special aspects of GLS is the opportunity to see how learning progresses across our three secondary programmes.
Students build a foundation in their subjects while learning to ask questions, solve problems, work together and express their ideas.
Students explore subjects in greater depth, carry out investigations, analyse information and apply their knowledge to more challenging tasks.
Students take greater responsibility for their learning through independent research, detailed investigations and critical thinking. They also share work connected to the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).
For parents, GLS is a chance to see how the skills developed in Middle School prepare students for the academic demands of High School and the IB Diploma Programme.
GLS brings together work from different areas of learning, allowing students to share their interests and demonstrate what they have been studying.
Students share experiments, models, robotics, coding projects, mathematical investigations and practical applications of classroom concepts.
Research projects, debates, storytelling, presentations and language activities give students opportunities to explore history, cultures, global issues and different points of view.
Art exhibitions, music, theatre and creative projects highlight students' artistic interests, imagination and developing skills.
Students also share projects and activities connected to teamwork, physical education, personal development and service to the community.
The first Secondary Global Learning Showcase, held in 2026, brought our Secondary School students and teachers together for a day of presentations, exhibitions and performances.
Some of the highlights included:
It was wonderful to see students speaking about their projects with confidence, explaining their thinking and sharing what they had learnt.
Preparing for GLS gives students an opportunity to look closely at their own learning.
They work on their projects, organise their ideas, prepare displays and practise explaining their work to others. During the showcase, they answer questions, discuss their findings and learn from students across different grades.
For some students, it may be their first experience presenting to a larger audience. For others, it is an opportunity to take on more responsibility and develop their presentation and communication skills.
Teachers from different subjects also work together to help students prepare and bring their ideas to life.
At TRIO, we believe children should have opportunities to enjoy learning, explore their interests and take pride in what they achieve.
The Global Learning Showcase reflects this part of our Happy School philosophy. It brings students, teachers and families together to appreciate the effort, progress and creativity that go into learning throughout the year.
For parents, it is a chance to see their child's work, ask questions and understand the learning journey from Cambridge Lower Secondary through IGCSE to the IB Diploma Programme.
