Young Japanese Student from TRIO World Academy Wins Hearts by Speaking Fluent Kannada During Rajyotsava Celebration
This year’s Rajyotsava celebration became even more special when a seven-year-old Japanese student impressed everyone with her beautiful Kannada.
Konatsu Hasegawa, a Grade 1 student at TRIO World Academy, has chosen Kannada as her second language. During the celebrations, she confidently introduced herself in Kannada, speaking with clarity and ease. Her pronunciation, grammar, and natural flow left teachers, classmates, and members of the Kannada community amazed.
In a short video that has since been widely shared online, Konatsu says, “Namaskara, Kannada language is beautiful, it is easy to speak, sweet to hear, and if you are born, you should be born in Kannada naadu, thank you.” Her heartfelt words and confident delivery quickly captured attention, earning praise from viewers across social media.
Many people appreciated not only her effort but also the encouragement and support from her family. Kannada speakers shared how heartwarming it was to see a young child from another country embrace the language with such enthusiasm.
Konatsu’s performance is a wonderful reminder that language has the power to bring people together. Learning a new language at a young age builds confidence, strengthens understanding of different cultures, and fosters curiosity about the world. Her Rajyotsava moment was a celebration of cultural connection and mutual respect.
We are incredibly proud of Konatsu for representing the true spirit of Rajyotsava and for inspiring us all to learn, appreciate, and celebrate the languages around us.
