Information and Technology Program (ICT)

The information technology program at TRIO equips students with the tools of information technology which help them unlock limitless ways of learning and innovating. Technology helps create cross-curricular links between various fields and can help solve problems in unprecedented ways.
ICT is introduced in the early years to let children experience powerful new ways to learn. The primary school lab is equipped with networked workstations that are regularly updated with the latest software suitable for Nursery till grade 1 of Information and Communication Technology.
Middle school students are provided with Apple iPads which make learning an exciting and enriching journey. Appropriately chosen educational apps, exposure to thought-provoking information resources and awe-inspiring multimedia can all spark students’ imagination and their thirst for discovery. The absence of geographical barriers provides access to course materials of a variety of topics. It also gives them a means to take up courses, research information, connect with peers, and teachers to work collaboratively.
Students of grades 9 to 12 follow ICT courses based on the Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme. The High school computer Lab is equipped with fully networked workstations to share data and resources and have access to centralised support to enable teaching both skills and theory. Parents, students and teachers communicate through Edmodo, on a common platform to access class work performance, homework schedules and other school information.
The students develop understanding of the implications of technology in society, including social, economic and ethical uses and awareness of the ways ICT can help in solving problems in home, learning and work environments. The students are extensively taught theory and practical skills in word processors, spreadsheets, databases, interactive presentation software, web browsers and website design. Learners analyse, design, implement, test and evaluate ICT systems, ensuring that they are fit for purpose. Assessment of practical test can be conducted on any hardware platform, operating system, and applications packages so that the students can demonstrate their full range of skills.
